XOLOS PIERDE ANTE ATLAS 3 – 2 EN LA COPA MX PLAYOFF SPOT
Guadalajara, Jalisco, 8 de Marzo de 2016._ El Club Tijuana finalizó con el marcador en contra (3-2) este martes ante el Club Atlas de Guadalajara en la Vuelta de la Llave 3 en el Grupo 2 de la COPA MX-Clausura 2016. Los Xoloitzcuintles ganaron la serie con global de 6-3 para sumar el punto extra y así llegar a 14 puntos y asegurar matemáticamente la clasificación a la Liguilla como mejor segundo lugar de grupo.
El Equipo Sin Fronteras regresó dos veces de un marcador en contra en el duelo, después que los locales se habían puesto adelante 1-0 al 21′ por conducto de Arturo González. Juninho puso el 1-1 con un gol de tiro libre en el 50′.
El Atlas volvió a tener la ventaja en la Vuelta tras marcar el 2-1 al 65′, después que Rodolfo Salinas aprovechó un rebote en el minuto 65′. Gonzalo Díaz respondió por los fronterizos al igualar 2-2 con un gol de fuera del área al 70′.
El Atlas marcó el 3-2 definitivo en la Vuelta al 88′ con un cabezazo de Edson Rivera.
Ahora los Xoloitzcuintles se enfocan en el duelo de la Fecha 10 de la LIGA MX-Clausura 2016 en la que visitarán a Jaguares de Chiapas el próximo fin de semana.

CLUB TIJUANA CLINCHES COPA MX PLAYOFF SPOT
Xoloitzcuintles reach quarterfinals despite 3-2 loss to Atlas FC
GUADALAJARA, Mexico -(March 8, 2016) –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles is in the Copa MX playoffs. It reached the Cup tournament postseason despite playing to a 3-2 loss against host Atlas FC Tuesday night at Estadio Jalisco.
The Xoloitzcuintles finished the group stage with a 4-2 record and 14 points, good enough for a second place finish in Group 2. Club Tijuana wins the home-and-home series against Atlas (6-3 aggregate), earning an extra point in the final matchday of the 2016 Clausura group stage.
Coras FC (16 points) finished in first place in the group. The Xoloitzcuintles will go through to the quarterfinal stage of the competition as the best second place team in the six group standings.
Club Tijuana got goals from Juninho (50th minute) and Gonzalo Diaz (71st), both good to tying the match at 1-1 and 2-2. But Atlas found a late goal by Edson Rivera (89th minute) to break the tie. Arturo Gonzalez (21st) and Rodolfo Salinas (66th) also scored for Atlas.
The home side opened up the scoring when Gonzalez softly scooped-shot the ball with his left foot from the left side outside of the penalty box. The ball sailed into the far top corner of Gibran Lajud’s goal, leaving the ball out the reach of the outstretched goalkeeper.
The Xoloitzcuintles used the speed of its midfielders in order to generate plays in which the home side could only stop with fouls. Juninho sent in a pair of dangerous free kick crosses into the Atlas penalty box but could not find a teammate to shoot on goal.
The Brazilian midfielder took advantage of a 20-yard free kick to shot the ball over the defensive wall and into the top corner of the Atlas goal to tie the game five minutes into the second half. Salinas once again gave the host the lead when he found a deflected shot inside of the box and sent it into the back of the net.
Second half substitute Diaz tied the game with a left footed shot from about 25-yards out. The ball bounced in front of the Atlas goalkeeper Miguel Fraga and skipped all the way into the lower corner of the goal. Rivera sent in the game-winner in the final moments. Brayan Garnica dribbled down the left wing, cut through the Xoloitzcuintles defense and sent in a cross where Rivera was able to get a head on the ball to send it out of the reach of the diving Lajud.
Club Tijuana will have to wait until the final four games of the Copa MX Week 6 are played Wednesday night to know its opponent for the quarterfinals.
