CLUB TIJUANA ALLOWS SECOND HALF GOALS VS. ATLAS FC
Xoloitzcuintles 2-2 Atlas, LIGA MX 2018 Clausura Week 14
TIJUANA (April 6, 2018) – Angelo Henriquez and Milton Caraglio scored second half goals in a 2-2 tie between Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles and Atlas de Guadalajara Friday at Estado Caliente.
Miller Bolaños (10th minute) and Martin Lucero (13th) scored for the Xoloitzcuintles but it was Atlas mounting the comeback with Henriquez scoring in the 73rd minute and Caraglio in the 78th.
Caraglio’s goal came off a header after a shot bounced off the crossbar. Club Tijuana players argued that the line judge had raised his flag to call Caraglio offside but referee Fernando Hernandez allowed the goal. Henriquez scored on a quick play after beating the defense, firing a shot past Club Tijuana goalkeeper Gibran Lajud.
The Xoloitzcuintles took the lead when Lucero fed Bolaños to his left on a breakaway. The Ecuadorian striker didn’t waste his chance on the two-on-one chance against Jose Hernandez, the Atlas goalkeeper.
It didn’t take long for Club Tijuana to score again. Lucero converted a penalty kick after he was taken down in the penalty area, also on a breakaway.
The tie gives Club Tijuana another point in the standings. The Xoloitzcuintles are now 4-4-6 with 18 points with three matches remaining in the 2018 Clausura.
Coach Diego Cocca’s team will now host Chivas in a Week 15 match Friday April 13 at Estadio Caliente.
